Choosing A Stand

Therefore, surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles us., and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3).

An athlete does not fully concentrate on the opponent when racing.   He only has in mind the prize that awaits Him as he wins. No matter the number of times that athlete falls whiles running, he still doesn’t stop the race. He stands to his feet and continues the race in other to not lose what has been prepared ahead for him. At the point where he falls is even when he puts in much effort to speed up, in other to catch up and seize that prize awaiting him.

During an athletic event, the spectators always outnumber the competitors. They are people from all walks of life; some being officials, families, friends, enemies and a host of others. With almost all of them expecting or wanting a particular participant to win.

So is it with our Christian life; living in a world where almost everyone but ourselves is a spectator. Everyone watching eagerly to see us get there or not get there. We then realise that the tools needed to finish up the race is to have patience, be ready to endure,be determined, ignore the spectators and most importantly look unto Jesus and his finished work.

What matters is how determined we are to start-up the race and win it. We must learn to press forward in whatever situation we find ourselves and believing we can do it. With no doubt, the road wouldn’t be smooth until the end due to obstacles we might meet but if only we can and will remain focus, all obstacles will just be obstacles by mere names. No matter the number of obstacles we meet, we must be determined and we must keep pressing on and moving forward with the fighting spirit which silently whispers, I can do it.

In the minds of every runner during a race, One thing is foremost -the finish line. So are we to run the Christian race as believers that we are; at a consistent continuous pace. To run a good race, we need the focused, determined and attentive spirit; not stopping when we feel like it but to run at a steady pace, running till we win and keeping in mind what our aim really is; seizing the prize.

Make it happen

Every runner going for a race prepares and put his body in shape.  So must you prepare your spirit and renew your mind for the Christian race. Make effective preparations and do away with characters that only limits God in your life. Yes. Your sacrifices or efforts will tell how badly you would want to win the prize.

Always be ready to make something happen and not wait for something to happen. Let nothing hinder you from reaching your goal.

Most importantly, bare in mind Jesus is the only time-keeper and referee of this race.
